BOARD OF DIRECTORS

EMILY BISSON (SHe/HER) - CHAIR

Growing up in a small conservative town in Kentucky, Emily found her true calling in music—a universal language that has always served as a safe haven for people from all walks of life. She believes in the power of music to create connection and community, especially for youth, providing a platform for self-expression and empathy.

Emily’s leadership is marked by her deep commitment to the arts and her ability to inspire those around her. A professional in the entertainment industry, Emily has worked towards an Advanced Diploma in Music Business and Audio Engineering from Metalworks Institute in Mississauga, ON, a Business Management Certificate from Sheridan College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, specializing in Music Business, Theatre, and Vocal Performance.

Sylvain Perrier (he/Him) - secretary

A forward-thinking leader, Sylvain is known for cultivating key business relationships, identifying opportunities for revenue growth, managing risk, and leveraging cultural awareness to unlock new growth opportunities across global networks.

As the President & Global Chief Operating Officer, Mercatus Technologies ULC based in Toronto, he brings a wealth of expertise in business leadership, with a strong educational foundation in Computer Science and Business Administration from CEGEP de L’Outaouais in Gatineau, QC.

Sylvain’s governance experience extends to several prominent organizations, including BrightLane Inc., NextPoint, Hope House Hospice, and Ryerson Retail Council.

taimoor ali kureshi (he/Him) - Treasurer

A seasoned financial management professional with over 7 years of experience in financial leadership roles, Taimoor excels in management accounting, financial planning and analysis, profitability analysis, and general accounting. Taimoor recently joined the team at the Toronto Metropolitan Students Union as their Financial Controller! In previous international positions, Taimoor has successfully prepared specialized financial reports for internal audits and coordinated with audit teams to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Taimoor holds a CPA, CGA designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant from the ACCA, UK. He is committed to leveraging his extensive financial expertise to drive organizational success and give back to the community.

Chloe Martin Snell (She/Her) - Director

Writing from her own experience and from the experiences of those who surround her, Chloe Martin Snell is a young poet. Her first published work is We Miss You: Giving All My Flowers to a Ghost. 

Born and raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Her ongoing studies inform her work; a graduate of Child and Youth Studies (Bachelor of Arts) with a minor in psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University, and an advanced diploma in Addictions Community Outreach. Chloe is currently employed with the Department of Community Services as an Access Support Worker in Child Welfare and Child Protective Services. 

With her struggles with depression, anxiety and growing up as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+, Chloe meets everyone where they are at in the moment with the kindness they need. Striving to be the person who would have helped herself when she was younger. 

LEANNE GIBSON (SHE/HER) - DIRECTOR

Leanne lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her fur baby golden retriever Kahla. She has a B.A from U of Winnipegn and works at a public library as the head of the Children's Department. Leanne has been a witness to what bullying can do to a child and their self-esteem. Because of this, she is a huge supporter of NTFT and hopes to help it grow and become a household name around the country and world.

TOUR PRESENTERS

ELSIE MORDEN (she/THEY) - TOUR PRESENTER & FOUNDER

NTFT was founded by performing artist and speaker Elsie Morden after surviving years of traumatic bullying. Through story and song, Elsie has delivered 700 keynotes across Canada speaking about bullying prevention, mental health awareness, neurodiversity awareness, 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility, and empowerment.

In recognition of her profound impact across the country, Elsie has been featured on national news outlets and has received prestigious awards including the National Change Makers Award from Alan Doyle’s Dollar A Day Foundation, Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 30 Under 30 Award, and the CAMH 150 Leading Canadians for Mental Health Difference Makers Award. As a recording artist she has over 750,000 streams on Spotify and a top 100 song on Canadian country radio.

Michelle Treacy (she/her) - TOUR PRESENTER

Michelle Treacy is a renowned singer-songwriter, motivational speaker, recording artist, and dedicated artist mentor. Having experienced bullying that started in elementary school and continued throughout secondary school, she found solace and a passion for music.

Despite being surrounded by doubters she never gave up on her musical dream of singing alongside Lady Gaga and during the ArtRave tour in Montreal, her dream actualized in an impromptu duet, sparking her rise to fame.

Michelle’s musical accolades include over 3 million Spotify streams and 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 with her hit single "Armageddon," winning CTV's The Launch, and collaborating with legendary producer Nile Rodgers on "Emotional.”

deedee Austin (She/Her) - TOUR PRESENTER

DeeDee Austin, is an 18-year-old Indigenous Pop Powerhouse and member of the Abegweit First Nation on PEI.

DeeDee, who you could call a hybrid artist embraces the contemporary and traditional Indigenous music which she creates and implements into each one of her infectious high energy performances. DeeDee’s authentic songwriting is bringing her recognition not only in the Atlantic Provinces but across the Nation and is no stranger to entertaining crowds of 10 thousand plus!

DeeDee currently sat on the 2024 JUNOS event committee as part of the Local JUNOs team as a voice representing young emerging artists, youth, local artists and the Mi’kmaq culture.

STAFF

Stephanie fischer (she/her) - Communications and Program Manager

With a passion for precision and a heart for generosity, Steph is a seasoned professional adept at planning, executing, and finalizing projects with finesse. Armed with a knack for meeting strict deadlines, she skillfully coordinates the efforts of team members and collaborators to ensure seamless project delivery.  

The secret ingredient to Steph's success lies in a profound people-first focus. She understands that behind every project and initiative, there's a human connection waiting to be forged. This compassionate approach makes Steph not just a skilled professional, but a committed team member dedicated to making a positive impact.

Steph is a dedicated professional with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Relations, with Honours, from Humber College of Technology and Advanced Learning in Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph. She brings a passion for precision and a heart for generosity to every project she undertakes, ensuring that planning, execution, and finalization are carried out with exceptional finesse.

As a mom of three, Steph whole-heartedly supports NTFT's mission supporting youth through the arts, and is thrilled to be part of this organization.

adam fearnall (he/him) - Governance and administrative analyst

Adam is a public administrator and consultant with leadership experience from the frontline to  executive level of the nonprofit and charitable sector. His work is rooted in the lessons he learns from continued involvement in grassroots work and has allowed him to maintain a unique perspective while holding more formal roles like Board Chair,  Executive Director, CEO, and President. He has worked across a variety of thematic areas including youth leadership, community organizing, youth mental wellness, arts and culture, program evaluation, advocacy, and civic engagement. 

Adam values environments that allow people to feel seen, supported, and invited to experience a sense of community connection. He works to advance the practice of compassionate public administration by uncovering and cultivating healing potential in places where we might not expect to find it (ex. governments, institutions, political parties, workplaces, administrative and management processes, and disciplinary processes). He coaches individuals and teams and often jumps into roles within systems and projects. Adam runs ultramarathons, raises service dogs, writes songs, makes films, and writes from his home-bases in Fredericton, London, Halifax, and Steady Brook. He is a Level One trained Internal Family Systems practitioner, holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario, and an undergraduate degree from Huron University College.

BRYCEN GUNN (he/THEY) - TOUR MANAGER

Brycen has been playing music and working in audio for 15+ years, recently moving from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Toronto, Ontario to pursue more opportunities in the music industry.

His bands and recording projects have toured internationally, and been nominated for several East Coast Music Awards and Nova Scotia Music Awards, with credits as writer, performer, and producer/engineer.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pavilion Youth Association, an award-winning non-profit dedicated to all-ages and barrier-free music in Nova Scotia.

Brycen believes that music is what makes us human, and that its ability to heal and create community is a necessary part of everyday life.

APRIL MULLINGS (she/her) - BOOKKEEPER

A graduate of the University of Toronto, April has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Specialist in Management and Economics.

April is also a mom and a strong advocate of early financial literacy. She loves music and the work that NTFT does!
